The huge success of the first Indian luxury train 'Palace on Wheels' gave way to the birth of another luxury rail journey in the south western part of the country - The Deccan Odyssey. Each of the 21 coaches is celestially decorated, giving the train an insight view of the elegant travelling style of the Maharajas of a bygone era, whilst at the same time being imbued with every modern facility that contributes towards making each journey both comfortable and relaxed.

The guest accommodation coaches of The Deccan Odyssey are lavishly appointed with comfortable furniture and personalised guest amenities. Complemented by discreet but attentive personal service, a journey on board this deluxe train is a unique rail tour experience in India. Relax, cocooned in your elegant, private compartment and observe the landscape of this fascinating country as it slips quietly past your window.

All compartments are spacious with plenty of room to move about freely and are furnished with a personal safe, telephone, en suite bathroom and air-conditioning. A personal attendant or 'Khidmatgar' is available around the clock for the service of guests.

Facilities on board the Deccan Odyssey include regal class cabins, multi-cuisine restaurants, a sitting lounge, high-tech conference car and a rejuvenating health spa.

The Deccan Odyssey has two multi-cuisine gourmet restaurants, Waavar and Utsav. The brightly decorated interiors of these restaurants and the restaurant stewards attired in traditional Maharashtrian costume add to the theatre of each exquisite dining experience. Each restaurant features an extensive menu of Indian, oriental and continental delicacies to choose from. The fresh aroma of varied dishes welcomes guests to the relaxed ambience of the restaurants, and the ever changing panoramas of the outside world passing by make every meal on board the Deccan Odyssey a unique and memorable event.

The on board bar, Mumbai Hi, is a relaxing place to savour a range of wines, beers and spirits sourced from around the world, whilst getting to know fellow passengers and swapping stories of the highlights of the day.

The Deccan Odyssey also features a health spa on board giving passengers the opportunity to indulge in some serious pampering with various spa and massage therapies. From the treasure trove of the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda, the secrets of rejuvenation will be turned into a regenerating experience for travellers.

Accommodation on Board

The Deccan Odyssey offers guests a luxury hotel on wheels featuring 44 Deluxe Cabins. Each elegant cabin is both spacious (95 square feet) and comfortable and beautifully appointed with a range of modern amenities and decorated to radiate the various eras of the Deccan dynasties. Deluxe Cabins have either twin or queen-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, a telephone, personal safe and an attendant to offer around-the-clock service.

There are also four Presidential Suites on board, just two per carriage and offer 191 square feet of living space. These luxurious suites are exquisitely designed and feature a master bedroom with living area and come with all modern facilities. They will accommodate up to four people.
