Why Choose a Luxury Train
Luxury rail travel is for you if you relish the journey just as much as the destination. Train travel of this sort is a very relaxing wayfor you to get to your destination, whilst also getting to see the countryside through which you are travelling - something that you miss all together if you fly. Most luxury trains have routes planned for you to travel through the most scenic countryside and to stop at places of particular interest. Almost all luxury trains feature a lounge on board where you can relax with a drink and watch the scenery glide by. This is also a great place for you to meet and get to know fellow passengers. Some trains even have an observation deck at the rear of the train where you can stand outside to get even closer to the countryside that you are passing through. On many train journeys, the train will stop en route at places of interest and quite often excursions excursions off the train will be included in the fare.
Of course, another feature of most luxury trains is the quality of cuisine served to you on board. The trains will often stop to pick up fresh, local produce along the way. Some of the best chefs in the business will prepare and cook it on board, so that quite often the food that you eat at dinner in the evening was picked or caught that very day!
Some of the luxury trains that we feature, such as the Northern Belle and Belmond British Pullman are day trains and you do not stay on board overnight. However, most luxury trains will accommodate you on board overnight. Cabins are always of e very high standard, although most will be relatively compact, unless you opt for the higher grade suites which have extra space and sometimes extra facilities. Recently built trains will have en suite private bathrooms in the cabin, although it should be noted that traditional trains such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express that were originally built in the 1920s and have been faithfully refurbished, have only wash basins in the cabin. Toilets can be found at each end of the accommodation carriage. *Update* - from 2018 the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will feature three Grand Suites which will offer you a full double bed, sitting area and en suite facilities.
