LONDON TO BERLIN

Overnight Journey

Day 1 : Board the Belmond British Pullman at London Victoria station. Sit back and relax as brunch is served accompanied by a Bellini as you travel through the Kentish countryside. After crossing the Channel, board the carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Enjoy an aperitif in the Bar Car before moving to one of the exquisite restaurant cars for a sumptuous four-course dinner, prepared by skilled French chefs. After dinner retire to your cabin, which by now has been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Day 2 : Awake to the breathtaking scenery as the train travels alongside the River Rhine, a dramatic 160-kilometre stretch. Breakfast is served in your cabin as you glimpse castles perched on vineyard-covered cliffs. Pass the infamous Lorelei, where an enchantress was said to lure sailors to their death. Take the opportunity to explore the train, perhaps enjoying a cocktail in the Bar Car as the resident pianist sets a sophisticated tone. Spot the twin spires of Cologne Cathedral as you cross the Rhine. Journey beside Wuppertal's world-famous Suspension Monorail, which has been taking passengers between its art nouveau stations since 1901. A leisurely three-course lunch is served in one of the two beautiful restaurant cars. While away the afternoon admiring the ever-changing view from your cabin window as a selection of pastries are served. All too soon the train arrives in Berlin, where your journey ends.

BERLIN TO LONDON

Overnight Journey

Day 1 : Board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train in Berlin, and take the time to settle in before an indulgent three-course lunch is served in one of the beautifully restored restaurant cars. Pass by cities including Wuppertal, where you glide alongside the famous Suspension Monorail. Dating from 1901, you may be able to spot its historic Kaiser's carriage. Let the hours slip by as you watch the ever-changing scenery from your observation window. Later, a selection of pastries are served in your cabin.

As evening descends, it's time to dress to impress and take your seat in one of the elegant restaurant cars for a gastronomic four course dinner. The train passes Cologne Cathedral and then moves into the stunning scenery of the Rhine River gorge. Glimpse cliff side castle as you pass Lorelei and keep your eyes peeled for the boat-shaped 14th century Pfalzgrafenstein Castle perched on an island. After dinner, trade stories with fellow travellers in the Bar Car before retiring to your cabin, which has been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Day 2 : Breakfast is served in your cabin at a time to suit you. Raise your blinds to admire green vineyards as you pass the grand Champagne town of Epernay before the train pulls into Paris Gare de l'Est early in the morning. A delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing. At Folkestone, join the Belmond British Pullman for the journey to London. A traditional afternoon tea, accompanied by a glass of English sparkling wine is served before arriving at London Victoria Station in the early evening.
